Hey there, fellow homesteaders and food enthusiasts! Today, I want to share with you one of my absolute favorite kitchen staples: fermented honey garlic. If you haven’t tried making this golden elixir yet, you’re in for a treat! In our homestead kitchen, it is more than just a condiment; it’s a powerhouse of flavor and health benefits that we keep on hand all year round. Here’s why I can’t get enough of this wonderful creation:

What is Fermented Honey Garlic?

It is a simple blend of garlic cloves submerged in raw honey and left to ferment for several months. During this time, the honey infuses with the garlic’s flavor while preserving its natural goodness.

Flavor Explosion

The first reason I adore fermented honey garlic? The taste! The garlic mellows out during fermentation, becoming sweet and slightly tangy, making it a versatile addition to countless dishes. Spread it on toast, mix it into dressings, or use it as a glaze—it brings a depth of flavor that’s truly irresistible.

Health Benefits Galore

As a homestead mom, I’m all about natural remedies and wellness. Fermented honey garlic is a powerhouse of health benefits:

1. Immune Boost: Garlic is renowned for its immune-boosting properties, and when combined with raw honey, you get a potent blend that helps ward off colds and flu.

2. Digestive Aid: This fermented treat contains probiotics that promote good gut health, aiding digestion and overall well-being.

3. Antioxidant Rich: Garlic is packed with antioxidants that help fight free radicals, keeping our bodies healthy and vibrant.

Easy to Make and Store

One of the best things about fermented honey garlic is how simple it is to prepare. Just peel some garlic cloves, place them in a clean jar, and cover them with raw honey. Store the jar in a cool, dark place for a few months, and presto—your own homemade elixir!

Fermented Honey Garlic is a blend of raw honey and garlic ferments into a sweet, tangy, and probiotic-rich elixir perfect for enhancing dishes and boosting wellness.

Ingredients

  • Raw Honey

  • Raw garlic cloves

Directions

  • Peel garlic cloves.
  • Fill a jar 3/4 of the way full with garlic cloves.
  • Cover garlic with raw honey.
  • Using a leak proof lid, flip jar over to let the honey coat the garlic cloves well. Flip back over and burp the lid. Repeat this process 2 to 3 times a day for a couple of days and then store in a dark place for at least 3 months. Be sure to use a fermenting lid or a covering that will allow the gases to escape before storing.
  • When the honey garlic is ready you can use it to add flavor to any recipe or eat the cloves by themselves for an immune boost.

Notes

  • You can use any type or size of jar you have. I would recommend using a dark tinted jar to keep the light from destroying the good bacteria in your ferment.
